By now, you’ve probably heard of Cryoskin. We have certainly been buzzing about it at Elixir since bringing it as an offering to our wonderful guests. But for those of you who haven’t – Cryoskin is a non-invasive, natural treatment that uses cold temperatures to reduce fat, improve skin tone and texture, and reduce the appearance of cellulite. The treatment works by using a combination of cold temperatures and massage to target specific areas of the body. During the treatment, a handheld or static device is used to apply cold temperatures to the skin. This causes a process called apoptosis where the fat cells in the area break down and are removed through the lymphatic system, resulting in a reduction in fat and cellulite. The massage helps to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage, which helps to flush out toxins and reduce inflammation. The result is smoother, firmer skin with improved tone and texture.
As Cryoskin requires certain healthy lifestyle choices for the best results, all treatments are not created equal. I always say Cryoskin treatments are a partnership between the practitioner and the recipient, this essentially means what YOU do during the treatment process is going to hugely affect your results. So how can you get the BEST possible results from your Cryoskin treatment plan? Follow these guidelines:
➤ Drink plenty of water before and after your Cryoskin treatment to help flush out toxins and keep your body hydrated. It is important to stay hydrated while getting your Cryoskin treatments. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water per day, and more if you are exercising or in a hot environment. Additionally, it is recommended to drink a full glass of water before and after each session to help flush out toxins released during the treatment, and we always have lovely reverse osmosis spa water on hand for just that reason.
➤ Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugary drinks before and after your treatment as these can interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment. These 3 are non-starters when it comes to Cryoskin as they can all interfere with your treatments. Caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it increases the amount of water that is lost from the body through urination. Alcohol also acts as a diuretic and can cause dehydration. Sugar will interfere with Cryoskin treatments because it causes an increase in insulin levels. Therefore, it is important to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugar prior to a Cryoskin treatment in order to ensure optimal results. We recommend having none at all for 2 hours previous to your treatment, and another 2 hours following. But it’s best to limit, if not eliminate, alcohol and sugar throughout your whole treatment process.
➤ Eat a healthy diet full of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates to ensure your body is getting the nutrients it needs for optimal results. This can have a positive impact on Cryoskin results. Eating a healthy diet (one that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants) helps to improve overall skin health, which then reduces inflammation and improves circulation. This naturally leads to better results from Cryoskin treatments. It also helps to provide the body with the necessary nutrients it needs to maintain healthy skin cells and promote collagen production, which is one of the main results we are looking for with Cryoskin.
➤ Exercise regularly to help improve circulation and promote lymphatic drainage which can help enhance the effects of Cryoskin treatments. Normatec compression therapy is a type of massage therapy that uses pulsing compression to increase circulation and reduce inflammation, both important aspects of maximizing Cryoskin treatments. The pulsing compression helps to flush out toxins, reduce swelling, and improve lymphatic drainage very effectively. This is so important when we use Cryoslimming technology, as we’re essentially straining the lymphatic system with the deconstructed subcutaneous fat cell waste. We’ve seen the fastest and best results with those who regularly utilize Normatec as a companion therapy.
➤ Complete a cleanse prior to your first treatment. A cleanse can help to remove toxins from the body and improve circulation, which works to improve the overall effectiveness of the Cryoskin treatment. The healthiest cleanse to do is a whole-foods based cleanse. This type of cleanse focuses on eating whole, unprocessed foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains. It also includes avoiding processed foods, added sugars, and unhealthy fats. During a whole-foods cleanse, you should focus on eating nutrient-dense foods that are high in vitamins and minerals. You should also drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Additionally, it’s important to get enough sleep and exercise during the cleanse to help your body detoxify and heal. Our HUM Daily Cleanse supplements are a great way to support a cleanse and start your Cryoskin journey!
➤ Use a good quality moisturizer (we recommend Ultraceuticals Ultra Retexturizing Body Complex or the Elixir Botanicals Radiant Oil is my personal favorite) after each session. Moisturizing after a Cryoskin treatment is important for several reasons. First, it helps to replenish the skin’s natural moisture barrier, which can be disrupted during the treatment. This helps to prevent dryness and irritation. Second, moisturizing helps to soothe and calm the skin, reducing any redness or inflammation that may have occurred during the treatment. Finally, moisturizing helps to lock in the benefits of the Cryoskin treatment, allowing them to last longer.
➤ Follow all instructions given by your Practitioners during the treatment to ensure you get the most out of it. Remember, they have seen firsthand what gets the best results. There may be additional lifestyle recommendations based on your specific needs and situation, and at Elixir we treat individuals. Every body is different, and we work with you in many ways to get you the best possible results.
